Excursion Tailpipe - To Short???

Excursion Tailpipe - To Short???
Has anyone noticed that the 03 Excursion with the 6.0L PSD motor has to short of a tail-pipe?
The tail pipe is inside the quarter panel and the black soot from the 6.0L diesel motor makes look horrible. Looking at F250's and F350's, the tail-pipe sticks out from under the rocker panel and properly exhausts the soot (exhaust) away from the vehicle and from the underside of the vehicle.
I even worry about fumes comming up from the underside of the truck!!
Has anyone noticed or had problems?
What do the 04's look like.
Guess I'll have to buy a chrome tip... (thanks Ford).
