Need some motor mount help
Please see the motor mount pictures in my gallery to see what I am referring to here.
I am in the process of installing a Vintage Air Sure Fit system in my 55 F 100. I received the bracketry for the alternator and compressor from Vintage Air.
The instructions said that if you have a front motor mount (which I do) you may need to trim some of the motor mount away. The bracket is flat and there is a 0.15" spacer that goes between the bracket and the timing cover bolt on the motor mount. Looking at the setup, I assumed they meant for me to cut the thing down until the bracket would mount.
So, I started to hack saw away at the mount. When the saw started to bind, I realized that I had probably made a mistake. So I emailed tham the pictures and called them up and they told me to stop what I was doing and that they would need to do a little more r&d before telling me what to do next to get this thing installed.
My question for the experts is: Have I trashed this mount already? Do I need to start searching for a new one to keep my motor from sagging on the passenger side, or will this thing function properly with the slice in the outer support web?
Thanks,
Jeff
