Aftermarket support

When looking for goodies for my old truck, I go through Summit, Jegs, everywhere. What I've come to realize is, many more manufacterers make more parts for GM vehicles. Why is there more support for these than any other auto maker? You can find anything you want for virtually any Bow-Tie, but when you go to look for Ford Truck parts, no luck. Why?

Things aren't that way for newer Ford trucks, there's a ton of aftermarket support.

The reason that there is so much available for the older chevys is they were much more standerdised than the older fords. Look at the 77-87 chevy trucks. Many of the parts on the 77 will bolt right on the 87. Cant say that about fords.
