Question for Andy again....
Last couple of weeks the truck has been idling at start up like I have an injector which is not firing.(been hovering between 0 and 10 degrees in the AM) Not a romp. Once the engine has gone a mile or so it clears up. I push the clutch in to check the idle as I go. above idle it seems to go away, maybe after 1000 RPM as well. My mileage since winter set in dropped 22% or so. Was getting 20.5 calc during the summer, before the first oil change.
Haven't seen an increase in the dip stick yet, but have heard that this missing while cold can be an indication of an injector going south. Not necessarily leaking fuel, but can be a weak solenoid, not opening properly. Does not happen on every cold start. I have also noticed a slight rough, not really a miss, after the true miss has gone away, when letting the motor pull a slight grade in the granny gear. It is almost like a weak cylinder. My dealership was just sold, so I am ****** outta luck, as I had a good relationship with the service manager there. He only lives up the road from me. I guess I could take it back to where it actually came in(dealer trade) and see if they will service it.
Any thoughts???
As Always Thanks so much for your input and time,

Well, it is April 15 2003 for the engine. According to one of the old moderators(the unmentionable one), I have the C95 injectors. Original flash. Mobile Delvac 1 same set up as you. See I really do follow my own advice.
Had an analysis done at 1500 after change to check on things. The Fuel in the oil was 1.7%. The original oil changed at 4950, was 1%. I would imagine that the extreme cold weather has a lot to do with the higher number, but this problem didn;t get hot and heavy until after I pulled the sample. One good thing in the report... 0 soot! Seems that this works. Did your original oil have any Moly in it? My TBN (original oil)was at 9.6 and I was advised that the oil was suitable for continued use. Fairly low iron for a new engine @ 43, but the understandable 134 silicon, most likely due to sealers. Everything else was great.
If there is something wrong, I started my base line from new, with their oil, so........ But boy I am hoping it isn't anything.
Have you heard anything about the solenoids not firing correctly causing a miss?
Have a good one
Lariat
On edit: My Viscosity@ 100 Degree C was at 8.47. Certainly at or below the SAE 30 grade.
The Mobil Delvac is at SAE 43 according to the new report. Gosh I wish they made a 10W30........
