It needs to accomodate my 89 F250 HD with 7.5L, 2WD and also Chebby Caprice with 350.
The former has a Steering Gear Input Shaft Seal leaking, so it must be replaced and there is no apparent way to do that without taking the whole thing off. I will keep the box since there are no driving problems with it.
The latter needs to have the whole box removed and replaced, it is worn, loose, leaking.
I think they are all about the same size. When you start tighting it up, tap the pitman arm with a hammer where it contacts the shaft. It will come off easier. Tighten, tap, tighten, tap.
Mike W is right about tightening and tapping it helps alot. If your not worried about the gear use a little heat on the arm. If you don't have a puller and have room to swing a hammer put a large hammer on one side of the arm at the shaft and hit the arm directly across from the first hammer. This technique works with most taper fit parts-rod ends and ball joints.
