saw a old friend i hadnt seen in a while. He has a white 460 f-150. We were both first at the stoplight where the highway is and it is a straightaway. Being i have a Borla exhaust and Cold air induction on my 4.0 explorer, i thought i had the muscle to match stock 460.
I put it in park and revved the engine to the redline a few times and boy was it loud. The people behind me mustve thought i was a crazy man. Anywho, light turned green and i put the foot down and held it there. My tires peeled out a little and as the engine went to 6000rpms and into 2nd, i was ahead of pauls truck. My off-the-line go was a lot better but i guess once the 460s get into 2nd or 3rd gear they really blast off cause man he blasted by me
sorry if that was a little boring but i got my fun in for the day
my 88 is chocked by emisions but still is a lot of fun. if I drive it a lot and get into some thing else, the others seem to have a miss or some thing.
I have a 1990 F250 with a 460 and its got the running boards and mudflaps on it right now, so it looks like quite the old man truck but it shocks the heck of a lot of people.
I loved having my 460... My job is next to an autozone and that is where all the ricers hang out... my boss is into old cars and said something like"stupid kids", when he say them trying to do burnouts... I had bought new tires the day before, so I told him that I would put the old ones on for tomorrow and embarass the kids next door... I called them out and proceeded to let my 330 HP big block roar( I had removed the exhaust after the headers) One kid in a CRX challenged me to a race.. first one to 50... I left him behind tlike he was standing still.... I miss the old girl....
My 86 xlt F250 with 460 i've had only one year...
(up for sale) anyway...
If I don't sell it by this spring, I'm planning on fixing it up.
I think the 86 is the last year befor going to fuel Injection.
It's got approx 75k, and she runs good.
It has the C6 3 speed auto tranny.
It needs a set of tires, and paint, tune up...the body is in great cond. Burns no oil.
So what mods can I add after.
I feel the exhaust manifold could be leaking? Headers? price?
Is an exhaust manifold easy/difficult to replace. (to check)
Or would dual exhaust complete system headers back...
4 barrell carb and intake? pricing.
all after verifying compression is in order...compression #s to expect are?
I'm on the fence between restoring or selling toward a new CC
dually 20x the price..
It's a great work truck(with ac)
ive always liked V8 engines....just not european ones. Because as they say, european cars break down, moreso if you dont take care of them (cough, my parents)
i was hopeing to get a v8 engine mustang instead of a weakass 3.8 (not weak anymore, now souped up) but ill be damned if i pay a gosh darnn $400 extra a year (double that if ever in accident)...not to mention speeding tickets, **** that. i tried to get a older like say 1994 ford mustang with the 5.0 engine but even though it being a older model (very old) with almost 80,000 miles on it, they STILL wanted loads of extra money DAMNIT.
sorry, just had to vent. But insurance is just ****ign bull**** nowadays

agreed....thats why alot of us use older rangers and s-10's or sedans to modify.
may take a little more time and money to modfiy...but insurance stays low.
Hey kermit, I got the biggest smile on my face when I read what you wrote. I hate all those stupid import and ricers. In my opinion a 4 cylinder sounds like crap. I've never owned a 460 but sure can't wait until I get one in my truck one day
