i have a '95 ranger with 2.3L 4 cyl. When i first start the truck in the morning, it revs up real high, then goes back down to the usual fast idle. Then as it warms up, it drops to normal idle. THe truck runs great and I am not getting any trouble codes. Other than the initial high rev, it's fine. what could be causing this? I hate to rev a cold engine up that much. I don't have a tach but i'll bet its 1500 rpm or better. Does anyone have any suggestions? it only happens in the morning when it is completely cold. Thanks, Kent
My truck does the same thing and a couple of my friends have rangers to and they do it to, even the newer models. Im not sure if something is causing this or it is just the ranger itself. Im no expert by far so I cant really say.
Thanks, i was hoping it was normal. my full size ford doesn't do it so i wasn't sure if it was normal or not. it doesn't cause any problems, i just wanted to make sure it was running alright. thanks, kent
