I would go ahead and install them right away. You will be pleased with the performance. It only took me about a week to break in the new rotors and pads. I just gave myself extra stopping room until they were well seated.
One caution.... make sure that the lug nuts are torqued properly. I'd hate to see your new, expensive rotors warped by over-torqued lugs.
ART charged my credit card on February 6th and I still have yet to see the product. I know he is basically a one-man show and it does take a while to receive them (we even discussed that on the phone). I ordered them with the mindset that I would be willing to wait up to two months, but I'm not crazy about him being so quick to charge me for the product and so slow to ship it. How long should I let him sit on my money before I cancel my order and buy somewhere else?
I also had the brake pulsation and figured I would change out the rotors since I already had them turned once at the first pad change. I am in the tire business and get in to alot of shops. While in one of my customers I relayed to him my plan. He said I should have the rotors turned with an "on the car brake lathe". I let him do it and have not had a problem since. Cost about $300.
You must R & R the drive shaft.
My experience with ART was exactly what he told me would happen. A week to get the rotors frozen, then shipped, so it would be approx. 3 weeks total depending upon when the order and weekends fell.
My guess would be that he uses the money to buy the parts/rotors, and then proceeds to freeze them. If he didn't take your money up front, and you cancelled out from under him, what would he do with what he purchased and started that fit's your vehicle?
Small operations usually work like I mentioned in order to survive the business.
My sincere advise is to be patient, the product is top notch and I have not heard of anyone that was dis-satisfied with his product.
This is a great discussion of rotors, but there is one more important item. I managed to get 50K from my stock rotors, before they started waroing and pulling. Replaced my rortrs with Advanced rotor system, but still had the left pull till I bleed the brakes. I should say more like replaced the fluid in the lines more than bleed. Took two shots of bleeding to get all the crud out of the lines, especially the driver rear. Now she stops straight with no pulls. The Advanced rotors do take a few panic stops to realise they are working, but the last few feet you can tell they are stopping that X dead, very quickly. I guy following a little too close in some rice burner found that out. I stopped 5 feet from the car in front and he was all over the road. Luckily he didn't visit any part of my back end........
remember to blled those brakes, you won't believe the crap that comes out of the driver side rear. BTW Ford knows about this and has yet to fix what ever is causing the problem.
