What has everyone been using to quiet down there springs? After my leveling kit, things got louder. I have been spraying them with a lube and it works for a couple of weeks but always comes back. Is there some pads that can be placed between them or do I just live with it?
I'm not sure of your mileage, or your warranty; but Ford has a Service Bulletin on the Squeek problem. My 2000 F350 4X4 CC DRW is going into the shop for spacers to be installed. The service manager told me this helps quiet the springs considerably. It is covered under the factory warranty.
Thanks Al but I am at 53,000 miles. I don't think warranty will cover it for me Let us know if Fords fix works and I look into getting the parts. I have never been able to completely quieten them but I am getting closer or maybe I am just going DEAF!!!
Here's a little known secret that many (or perhaps most) dealers don't seem to know about.
Ford actually has a specification (I think it's ESF-M1C229-A) for anti-squeek that calls for a product made by DuPont Krytox GPL-205 Grease. The stuff is ungodly expensive. My springs don't squeek, but I am convinced it works because it doesn't break down like everything else.
If your dealer can't help you, I know where to get it, so let me know.
My bad... not yours. I'm a beginner at this forum stuff, and I didn't notice how old the original post was; 2002 I guess???
Anyway, warranty or not, every dealer should know about this fix, but few actually do for some reason. Maybe they don't want to spend the money themselves. Amazing if you figure they can charge it back anyway (with a profit) to the manufacturer.
It's not a bad, it's what makes this board the best resource for Ford trucks on the net. You used the search function and contributed useful info to the thread. So anyone else who may be having this problem and does a search will find this and can use it. That's what this board is all about.
