Hello, I am new to this site and in need of some advice. After years of driving a trans-am I decided to go the big truck route. I bought a 01 F350 4x4 SD with the PSD. It has a 14 lift w/ 44 in tires. I was stopped today in Deland, FL for a bumper height violation. My bumpers are 40" off the ground. The statute says that the front needs to be 28' and the rear 30" IF the truck weighs 5000 lbs OR LESS. My GVRW is 9900.The truck weighs 6500 lbs. There is nothing in the Florida statutes that dictate bumper heights for trucks over 5000 lbs. Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks, Bill
You're gonna have to call the DMV for this one. I used to have info on this, but can't find it now. It was a couple years old and may be out dated by now, all the more reason to call the DMV.
Its the net shipping weight. I would assume that means the vehicle weight listed on the registration (mine is about 6700 lbs). So, I'd say you are correct. I would bring a copy of the statute and your registration to court. For that matter, I would carry it with you in the glove box.
