my truck is strictly factory right now but i am thinking of getting a flowmaster. what do y'all think about the 50 series truck/suv muffler? what do i need to buy and what's the best place to get that installed? or is that something i could install myself, never having done it before?
40 series will sound better, what you need to buy depends on what kinda setup you want. unless you have your own lift itd be easier if you took your truck to a muffler shop and let them do it., especially if you never done it before.
personally id go with glasspacks, cheaper and in my opinion they sound better. everyone these days has flowmasters.
What motor is in your truck? It may just be me, but I've never liked the sound on glasspack on anything short of a 460. Installing a muffler is nothing hard, all you need is access to a sawzall to cut the stock muffler out, and some clamps to hold the flowmaster in. If you want to have it welded in, or the stock muffler is longer than the replacement muffler, then your gonna have to go to an exhaust shop to have them add an extension pipe.

Flows sound great!
The 50 series has a nice mellow tone that is aggressive when you really get on the gas. The 40 series on the other hand, sounds aggressive all the time.
40 series is very low. Gives a nice rumble at idle, and at cruising speed. When u stomp on the gas it opens up and everyone will know u mean business and can hear u coming, lol.
U can go to flowmaster.com and hear some sound clips of the 40 series and the 50 series.
but actually it is the opposite. you might find yourself getting worse gas mileage if you like the sounds of your exhaust...cause you'll be revving it up and flooring it alot, if you're anything like me.
like the guy that did my exhaust said- "a good set of custom duals is known to do crazy things to your foot"
I have a borla exhaust on my explorer. Only mine is the 4.0 engine, but still sounds great! Like the guy above said, if you really get on the pedal, your mileage will go through the floor. I am exactly the same way People must think im crazy coming up to a stoplight in a explorer with a loud exhaust. Ive got the looks from people, lol
Hmm...with that new of a truck I highly doubt you'd like the interior resonance the flow 40s give ya. With my 300-6 ad with my buds Jeep AMC 304 V-8 the resonance is quite bad. You get used to it after a while, bt just don't drive the truck when you have a headache. I reccomend a Dynomax, they sound MEAN on the modular motors.
