The Front wall of my Bed is warped and rubbing directly in the middle of my cab. Its Scratching and rubbing some significant paint off too. Ill have some photos tomorrow. I carry Mountain bikes/DirtBikes with 2 Tie down straps standing up, and its warped right where the front tires go. Is this bad? How can i get it fixed?
first off i would stop putting the dirt bikes directly against the front of the bed. sounds to me like this is the cause of the problem. i would just grab the middle part of the bowed bed and put my feet on the bottom part and pull really hard on it. i would say that that should pull it out enough. let us know how it goes.
I think its the force of the Strap pulling so hard on the bike, that pushes the front tire into the front of bed, and then it has no strength. I think that wall should be stronger.
Thats a bummer Yeti, but I had the same problem on a previous truck I had. I pulled the front of the bed straight again and got a piece of 2" angle iron, drilled some holes in it to mount it so it looked nice. After that it never gave me any more problems. Good luck!!
There is a "bike shoe" just for front wheels of motorcycles that fits in your pickup box. Probably available in most motorcycle magazines. You also might consider installing a couple of 2x8's or metal sheeting across the front end of your bed for support even if you use the "bike shoe". You won't have to cinch them down so tight with the "shoe", thus not bowing it in so severely.
The beds on these superdutys are way under designed. the bottom of my bed is buckled down in several spots from dropping fire wood in. :-X23 I work in a welding shop and I see these superdutys that contractors use and the beds are all beat to crap on the inside. My old 78 ford held up a lot better.
Gee and I thought I was the only who wrecked the front of their box. Its kind of an initiation thing with me (although unintentional).
I made up piece of angle iron with tab with a hole in it and used a small winch hooked the trailer hitch to pull the one out of my 90 and with my 01 I used a slide hammer. Drilled one small hole. I think I'll cover it with stainless caps or maybe find a factory plastic side cover and cut it down.
I have used a piece of 4x6 in the front where the bed front meets the bed floor as a spacer for front fender clearance on a motorcycle and front rack clearance on a 4wheeler.If you get a piece wide enough it will lay at the front and can't slip sideways and will distribute the securing forces over a greater area.
I've been reading this forum for quite a while, but this is my first time posting! I've got to say that I really enjoy reading this, and I may have even learned a thing or two... (Maybe)
Take a look at the CCR Sport Bed Buddy. It won't fix your already bent bed, but it may help with problems in the future. I would be interested in knowing if anyone has installed or seen one of these live and in person. I have considered getting one, but I just haven't pulled the trigger.

Well I just noticed I had the same warp problem with my 99 Superduty caused by motorcycles. Also that pallet of blocks I loaded with the forklift caused the bed to sag in the middle. I pulled the back section of the bed back into position by hand. The bend in the middle of the bed I will try to fix with a jack under the truck. This is very disappointing for a Super Duty truck.
