early 70's compression vs. 75 390

early 70's compression vs. 75 390
How much was the compression lowered from 1972 to 1973? I also heard ford lowered it again in 75. Here in cali we won't have to smog trucks 30 years or older any more, so if i get a 75 is it worth switching the heads to older ones, or is it not big enough of a difference?
