Are these tires any good?I HAVE to get some new ones put on my '92.I called Wal-Mart and they are $54 a piece.Liberator,Douglas, and Continental are the only tires they carry in 14".Liberator is made by Michelin.I get the tires mounted, balanced, rotated every 6k miles for their life, and free flat repair for the price listed above. It comes to like $218,plus tax.I'm gonna go up there tomorrow and get me a set if you guys think that they are a good buy.
I don't know if those are any good or not, but for comparison, try Discount Tire You can shop online at the Direct site, then contact a local outfit with the price. They will price match also.
I looked up a 92 ranger 4x4 - they only had 15" tires, with 235/75R-15 being one of the 2 stock options for 4X4.
I recently bought Firestone Destination LE tires for my Ranger. They are 15" and I checked prices on-line at Tire Rack and a local tire dealer matched their price. They cost me $64.00 a piece plus tax and disposal of old tires. I am very happy with them. Very little road noise and excellent wet traction.
Probably not entirely on-topic but I purchase all of my tires from Les Schwab. I learned from years on the farm that Les has always treated his customers super. Never a problem, repairs, rotations, buying old tires for super cheap (great for the pipe rack trailer, farm trucks, you name it).
Consequently I just put on 4 new Wildcat AT's to replace the Toyo z800's I bought to replace the horrid Firestones that come with the truck. I paid a bunch for 'em, but the hassle free deals that come with Les Schwab tires makes it worth it for me.
Let me just tell you one thing about those off brand Liberators. I used to work in the Automotive Service part of Wal-Mart and those have to be the worst tires Wal-Mart carried hands down. The only close ones are Good-Year Viva and Douglas Xtra-Trac. Liberators are so out of round and out of balance they require HUGE weights to be placed on the rim. The radial belts are crappy and the puncture resistance is very poor. The tires are worthless except for slow-speed agriculture use. Oh yeah...the treadpattern is junk too.

I don't think they are made by Michelin.
Thanks for the INFO,but I have a set of them on my BII size 235/75/15 they have been on it for a year now wth NO!!!!! problems. The only thing I dont like is that they are 6 ply and are real heavy,I do like the 6 ply for the trail though.
Thanks for the replies everyone.I'm going to Wal-Mart Tuesday to have them put on.Before they even touch my Ranger,I'm going to look at them though.I have talked to some people, and they shunned the idea because they are head-set that Wal-Mart buys the junk.Well,if that is the case and these Liberator's are junk, they're gonna fix 'em.I think that I'll be very happy with them.At least they'll be better than what's on the truck now...1 onion-peel Michelin on the left front, one about-the-same Douglas on the right front, and 2 little-better-off General's on the rear.It just so happens that the two Generals on the back are the same size.I think they're 225's.The Michelin on the left front is a 215 and the Douglas on the right is a 225 lol.I'll be Soooo glad when I get those Lib's on.I think that I'll be happy with 'em.
P.S. Don't worry,I didn't put all of those different size tires on here. They were like that when I bought the truck last year .
Liberators are made by Cooper Tire, according to Cooper tire's web site. I had two liberators put on the front of my 79 ford and two Cooper Broncos put on the back. There was a large difference in tread wear; the Coopers lasted much longer, for about the same price, and the tread wear differences were not due to alignment problems. The liberators also developed bulges in the sidewall, which was covered under a recall, but my tires were not within the listed group. And as others have stated here, the balance weights were LARGE to get the tires to balance.
We'll see what comes up.Remember,my choices are pretty much limited with these 14" rims.I really want me a set of F-150 15" rims, but I can wait on those.
Hey, if you got a sams club near ya, i got my BFG's put on for around 97$/ Tire, mount/balance/rotate/fix-a-flat service which is really good considering everywhere eles had it about 135$/tire and i'm not sure they have the same quality. Good deal on them though, also for battries too!
Costco is another good place to get tires cheap MAKE SURE you buy the road hazard if you get the tires at walmart other wise they will not do squat to fix them later
