Hi all. i took my front clip off yesterday and i have the cab all unbolted and ready to take off. i was wondering if anyone had a idea as to how heavy it is. I only have pepole power to lift it off and i was wondering how many friends i need to round up.

i pulled my truck under a tree with a lowhanging branch that was big enough to support the weight of my cab, we ran a ***-a-long from the branch to the cab and my dads chevy. used the chevy to pull the cab up, and used my gmc to drag the frame from underneath. set the cab back down and rolled it out of the way. moved the new cab underneath, lifted it up, and rolled the frame underneath. this only took about 30minutes to do and we did it with 2 people, me and my dad. i wouldnt try to move it with just man power, theres too much stuff to work around. if your stuck on using manpower, i would roll the old cab off(just let it drop off, its prolbably junk anyway) and have ur guys pick up the new cab and roll the frame backwards until its in position to set the new cab on. this would only work if you have the bed off. i wouldn't recomend doing this with the bed on. its easy to take off and frees up alot of space to work with
i have done it with a cherry picker or engine hoist with a 4x4 cab, ran a 4x4 under the floor and a chian around the 4x4 thru the hole in the cab, it is very top heavy but the cherry picker supports the weight and a couple of guys balance it,
