stock carb?

What is the stock Carb for a 1979 400 w/ auto trans? is it 2v or 4v?

What would be a good choice for low end, low RPM torque as a replacement, fuel economy not an issue

Just learning about this motor and am very appreciative of your input to all the questions Ive been asking

Thanks in advance

Its a Motorcraft 2150 2V carb. There were no factory 4v manifolds/carbs for this motor.

The Performer 400 intake offered by Edelbrock along with their 600 cfm carb tend to be rather popular. The combo offers substaial improvements over stock horse power and torque. That is all I've done to one of my trucks (for now) and I was quite pleased with the results.

Other companies offer simular intakes but I couldn't tell you about those off-hand.

The intake and carb might set you back about $350-$400 but is WELL worth it in my opinion. You will want to check your local laws and make sure they won't frown at you for doing these type of mods, and if they do Edelbrock aslo offers an EGR intake. I don't know how all that stuff hooks up but you might not have to worry about it.

Good Luck.

Nice truck fellow Spokanite! The 79's are done with emission testing now, so its time to play! I've got a Weiand 8010 and the edelbrock 1406 waiting for cleanup and installation on my 79 F150. Got them both off ebay for a good price.

Is that the place on the corner of foothills? I was eyeing one down on east sprague that looked to have a clean body, but I have to get my new engine before I start to worry about the body.

The have some nice looking trucks on their lot for sure. Phoenix is a nice store, I've gone in there a few times as I look at lights for my base finish (another project!), hopefully I can finish that one soon too.
I'm going to drop in a 400 soon, a neighbor works at Jones engines and I've been talking to them about it. I've been buying all the little things I need to go along with it, including the carb and intake so my truck fund has been shrinking fast. I'm hoping in March to be able to get the engine. After I used my dads powerstroke to pull my boat once I realized just how much I need a new engine

It just lets you know when your buddy is online, and I think that it might let you get emails from them, even if you have the emails turned off, *im not sure about that one*.
