1973 Ford F-350 won't start HELP PLEASE!!
Okay any help you can give me would be great! .. we are about to take our truck to a mechanic because we can't figure this out. Our 1973 Ford F-350 won't start it turns over but will not start .. We changed the distriburator , had the starter tested and it was fine .. but now we have no idea .. We just had two head gaskets replaced and then we drove it home and it kept dying .. now it won't even start .. after we put the new distribuator on it started for a sec then died and hasn' t started since .. It will fire up but that is it .. we tried to jump it and everything .. the choke isn't stuck we checked that .. any ideas !!! PLEASE HELP !!
Might be easiest to start with the fuel. Take the air cleaner off and look down the throat of the carb. As you push the throttle linkage back you should see a little stream of gas spray into the carb. Then at least you know if you have fuel. You said you jumped it...is it cranking over ok? Take the wire that goes from the coil to the center of the distributor cap and place it somewhere close to the block or intake and have someone crank it to make sure you have good spark. I would guess if you replaced the distributor there is a chance you have the spark plug wires on wrong, or it is just out of time. Try roatating the distributor slightly...maybe even have someone crank it while you are turning it.

Was this done by a professional mechanic? Did it run this way when you took it to him? If not, then take it back - before you change things. It obviously wasn't right on the drive home.
when i first got my licnese i got to drive a 72 f250 to school and on my first day of driving to school my truck did the same kind of thing. it turned out to be the condinser, since you do not have electronic ignition you must have points and condinser, but if you changed them out when you replaced the distributer thien it is more than likly the coil or its connections.
good luck
