Has anyone had any problems with their power door locks not locking.
I have 1999 F250 Lariat with remote power locks. It tries to lock (remote)and unlock the drivers door, but rarely succeeds. On the other three, it usuall does but sometimes it misses the front passengers side or the back pasengers side. Also the same when using the auto button inside. The remote when pressed once is supposed to unlock the drivers door and when pressed twice, the rest of the doors. If I relock them and try again, then it seems to be worse. If left alone for a long time it sometimes works correctly. Is there some sort of relay somewhere that might be bad or what??
Battery OK in remote. same on inside switch, but different result everytime is pressed. Surely not all accuators bad, only 27000 miles on truck. Different locks work correctly at different times. Mabey possessed with demons.
You'll definitely want to get the truck serviced... I think the GEM controls the door locks as well as several other miscellaneous functions. Probably only a matter of time before other "gremlins" appear.
I've got the same problem with my 2000 F250 SD. The hotter the day, the worse it works. It doesn't matter if using the key fob or the inside switch. I'm in Phoenix, and in the summer, forget it. They are too hot to work. This probably means there's not enough power getting to the solenoid (the hotter the coil, the higher the internal resistance, and the more current it will take to actuate the lock). There must be something limiting the current somewhere. I'm taking mine in to Ford in a couple weeks and will see what's up...
I've also got a problem with my Cruise control dropping out when I hit a bump, so that will be looked at too....
I'll try to remember to let you know what I find....
Chk the connector on the fire wall it hAS A 5/16 (i think) bolt going through it some have made it through the factory loose.
This direct from a ford friend of mine.

I bought a 99 250 about a month ago and I am having a similar problem.....The lock actuators want to work but they seem to not have enough power. It almost looks like they are "gummed up". They are about $70 a piece to remove and I would like to avoid that if possible. Did anyone ever find a simple solution to this problem? -John
I have a 02 v-10 SD and am also having just a slight problem with my RKE system. Just sometimes, when I hit the un-lock. It will not un-lock the first time. The same gois for the lock. Maybe it is because of the rolling RKE system. Any help out there?
