Snowplow voltage drop

Hey guys! A question for the plowing people. What kind of voltage drop do you see when lifting the plow at an idle? Mine drops to 10volts. Just curious to see how others respond. Thanx

Almost to where the lines are red, Which I believe is 10 volts also.
The plwolights dim a little also, but I think this is normal.

Yes it is normal. I have the same thing happen in both trucks that I plow with (an 87 F250, in my gallery, and a 79 Bronco). The lights dim too. Your pump draws a lot of juice. Just make sure you have a good battery and alternator. I run with all my running and plow headlights, a blue strobe, a heater usually on high (cuz I get cold!), and a radio (so I don't fall asleep after working 20 hours straight and I never have problems with a dead battery. Good luck!

That setup is EXACTLY what I have in both of my plow trucks. Works great!

Thanx for your responses. I have a 94 amp alt and a 700cca batt. I think i have a 1000cca in my other truck that doesnt need it. Perhaps I will swap it out. What size pulley do you have on your 100+ alts? mines two and a quater inches. Im going to look into getting a smaller one to get more amperage at lower RPMS.
