Steering colum issues.

I think I asked this a long time ago but the FE population has exploded since then so I'll as it again.

My steering wheel moves up and down in the column. It doesn't slide in and out or anything but it is annoying. I took it apart and the brass bushing thing is shot. Is there a rebuild kit or anything I can use? I'm sure somebody else has had this problem.

The only bearing on there is inside the steering wheel cowl.
Have you tried looking at a bearing companies part list on line?
Sk or Federal mogul?

The newer 70's columns have 3 grabbling fastener's that hold the column all together.

I really can't figure out where it is messed up other than it moves up and down. I will take a look at the federal mogul site. They have a pretty good search engine.

You need a steering column upper bearing C3DZ-3517-A (same one is used for the lower bearing). See if the site has them, otherwise try Mac's.

Edit: Is the bearing sleeve ok? If not B1AZ-3518-A

mine did the same even after new berrings i had to find a metal sleeve to sandwich between the nylon berring sleeve and the steering wheel my turn signal cam and horn peices are all missing and that is what hold the top tight at the bottom check the clamp that is atached at the rag joint this holds your bottom berring tight hope this helps you mine was so bad it sheered the shift selector off inside not fun to find

BB are those bearing #'s the same for a '68 steering column? I could use a rebuild on mine also.

Thanks for the part numbers Barry. I wonder if ford has them? I have nothing in mine. Sleeve is shot along with the bearing.
