accelerator pump help

I was wondering a couple of things today I am putting a new one in so do I need to put gas in my float bowel or anything to get it going. Also theres that metal arm that is front of the acc pump, it has 4 holes for the rod that goes back to the carb so which one do I use right now it is on the top left hole, is that right?

It will start on it's own. No pre-fueling.

As for which hole. I usually use the one farthest out. That give maximum shot. The closer down the arm you go, the less pump shot given. I suppose you could try others till you get a stumble when you goose the throttle(under load).

You can get a stumble from too much shot also. Just try the adj holes until you get the minimum shot that will work.

True, but I don't think I have ever got an Autolite to have too much gas
