I rebuilt the 352 in my 67 f-100, and I have done the initial start up, I broke in the cam, and drove it less than a mile, but I probably have about 2 hours on the motor just from starting it and letting it run. It has probably been close to two monthes since I have been over to start it again, I am thinking about starting it this weekend, is there anything special I need to do after not starting it for this long
Pulling the dizzy and priming the oiling system would not be a bad idea but I would probably just start it up. If the cam isn't broken in now then its not going to.
I fired it up today, it started really easy maybe 10-15 seconds of cranking, and it is 19 degrees today. I didn't run into any problems besides the same oil leak, I have a question for all of you people with that have been around FE's for a while, There is a gradual dripping of oil, that runs down the side of the passenger side cylinder head at the very back against the firewall, it runs down to the starter, and drips on to the header, any Idea were it is coming from, I will tell you I have retorqued the head, and tightened the intake bolts, I am getting really frustrated, a former mechanic said that it was a common problem on the FE's, he said to pull the bottom head bolt on the back, and wrap it in teflon tape, but some of the wholes are used for valve train lube right? will it restrict oil flow to the rockers? I don't know, please reply I am really gettin frustrated
valve cover or the rear seal on the intake manifold .
I always retorque the intake manifold after the first run up to operating temp.
I'll bet that the valve cover bolts are loose too.

These old valve covers leak. I call it the FEs external lubrication system. Mine drip down onto my pretty new FPA headers...I hate it! I think the fel-Pro rubber gaskets work better than the cork myself.
I'm hoping to resolve this with some more rigid aluminum covers, but I have not got them installed yet.
This is the stock intake, I will check it out when I get back over there, I think it could possibly be the valve cover, because I have pulled them off and resealed them since the initial start up, but I really think that it is the intake, I appreciate your replys i will keep you posted.
thanks
mine did the smae thing when i swaped on my new four arel intake i was at the auto shop on post and one of the old guys there said every fe he ever built he had to put a big drop or rtv in the corners where the block heads and intake all meet to keep em from leakin both of em ive done since ive done it to and neither one of them has leaked yet
