i usually turn it off. the main reason is i turn it on with my left hand because my toothbrush is in my right hand, that means im turning the hot on, when i leave it runing it gets really hot so when i go to rinse my mouth out i burn myself. if the cold was on the left i probably would leave it on because i am quite lazy and that would save a step.
Well the “proper” answer that your teacher is most likely looking for is this…
The use of water during daily activities, such as doing dishes or brushing teeth can be minimized by simply turning off the water supply when not directly in use. It is in fact wasteful to allow water to run down the drain that is not being used for any purpose other than to hear noise while pursuing the endeavor. As to whether it is “ok” to do this is completely dependent on who you ask. From an economical and environmental aspect it is not ok to allow water to run when it is not being used.

The Don
PS. I myself usually turn it off when its not being used.
