Has anyone had any experience with block filling? I read an article in a magazine some time back where they did a 1/4 fill on an engine intended for mainly street driving with some strip use. It said that filling the block to just under the freeze plugs would stiffen the block while reducing harmonics and also improved cooling by keeping the coolant closer to the top of the cylinders and in the heads where most of the heat is generated. I'm getting ready to start a 460 rebuild and had considered it but wanted some real world info on the subject. Thanks for any help.

I got a buddy with a 460 punched out to 500+ cubes Mustang, way hot, nitrous charged bad machine. This guy gets thrown of the drag strip for being TOO fast. His block is not filled. Draw your own conclusions.
Not really needed unless you are going for max high rpm power.
As far as being thrown off the strip for being to fast, it was more likely for not having the required safety equipment for the ET he was turning.
I got thrown off the strip (told I could not run any more) for turning a 11.93 in my 302 Mustang. Of course I knew it would happen, because I had no roll bar
