But I guess that ok, i was kinda ranting like a dumb redneck.(No offence rednecks)
You should give Fedex a try for what ever you ship, if you do it online you save 10%. My normal shipping fee, ground when I ship stuff is about 4-8 dollars.
It was 5 and some change to New York took 4 days, and it was 8 and some change to washington state and took 5 days. I dont get that, but it must more of a direct route.
I've heard the same complaints about FedEx, the Post Office, and just about any other delivery company. They all have their problems, but if you really need it "right now" maybe Jean-Luc can beam it to you. Might cost a little more!
You must have just got unlucky, maybe an accident, i remember when we were in south dakota, a ups truck got mashed in the front right fender, it was pretty bad, bet that was a couple day delay. Anyway, if i order somthing on a sunday, it will be here either wed/thurs and shipping is either free if you buy enough, or about 7-10 bucks depending on what and how much you buy. I once made the mistake of ordereing somthing from jcwhitney when they had their priority mail service. I ordered it on a sunday, waited a week, then another week , then it showed up on tuesday, man was i steamed, i was the most mad because i had tracking, and about 2 days after i ordered it, they finally shipped it, and there it sat in some warehouse for about a 2 weeks, then they finally had it move to here in 2 days, and shipping was like 14.99, i said i swear thats the last time i order anything with usps shippiing. thankfully jcwhitney switched over to ups or fedex or somthing

Yeah.... my mom sent me a box when I was in college in Russia, but I never got it. When I got home she said there was home make cookies and a lighter in it from back home.
Use the US Post Office. They'll make you happy. My last dealing, I was sent a box in January 2003. I got it in July 2003. They couldnt find it. I'm happy to use Fed Ex and UPS. The USPS works great for paying bills or sending a letter easily replaced. I use UPS for all packages, and FedEx for letters I absolutly have to have overnight.
So I spread around the business.

Anyone here hate UPS for the same reasons?
What about fedex??
Just looking for some other opinions.
I don't "hate" UPS but I think I get a lot better service from Airborne Express, for less money. Airborne has merged with DHL and that move made them even better. If you track a package on Airborne's site, not only do you get where it is at the time but also what time within an hour it will be delivered and once it has been delivered, you pull up an image of the persons signature that signed for the pkg. Which has actually helped me in the past. FedEx and UPS are okay, I just like saving as much money as possible and getting even better service makes it that much better.
I am a UPS driver. I promise you we do not hold pkgs. Track your pkg I will bet the shipper did not ship on the day they said. We do not warehouse pkgs!
If you did not receive your pkg in time. The shipping is FREE. Lets see fed ex beat that.
I hate Fedex. Fuel surcharges out the wazzo to rural routes plus ground drivers take their sweet time.
The reason is because they are independent contractors. So they wait until they can get as many items to an area as they can before sometimes they'll have a package for 2-3 days at the hub and will hold on to it so it can go out in one of their batches. So long as they make ground in their 5-6 day delivery window, they don't care.
With UPS, if it goes to a neighboring state I know it will get there in 1 or 2 days. When they say it will get there on day X, it will. Fedex only does that for non-ground shipments.
We do about a grand per week of business with UPS, used to use Fedex. Had to drop them because we couldn't rely on their ground service and got tired of surprise fuel and rural surcharges. With UPS, we've NEVER gotten a bill to find a $6 ground shipment turned into a $30 shipment. With UPS, my pickup, delivery, air and ground driver is one guy. With Fedex, its three different. My UPS driver has formed a "relationship" with my company because of this. He knows when we prefer to have drop-offs, deliveries, etc., and he lets us know in the morning what his day is going to look like so we can plan for it if for some reason he's going to be earlier or later than normal.
We're taking a look at Airborne since their recent merger on a trial basis with a few packages per week. However, what I've found is a bargain isn't always a bargain, if you know what I mean. We'll probably stick with UPS.
As to the postal service, we did that for a long time and were extremely grateful to finally be rid of them. I got tired of lost/stolen packages, no date-definite deliveries, crappy tracking, etc.
Every delivery company screws up now and then... but when my company's customers are waiting for a package I use a package company that I know will keep them happy and have the least mistakes. Go ahead and save a few bucks... how much is your time and your employees worth when they are spending time with customers on the phone with delivery problems or transit questions? I have found that the more we ship the happier I am that we use UPS, it saves more in the long run.
