What would it take to remove the a/c from an '86 F-150 EFI 302? I've had it disconnected since I bought the truck. It didn't work anyways. Should this be taken to a professional to have the system drained? I'd like the extra room under the hood to work. I grew up without a/c in all the farm trucks and have learned that opening a window is just as good. Thanks.
If the a/c doesn't work it might all ready be empty , but if not you can slowly back off the bolt holdingthe lines on since your on the farm your used to doing things the none evniro way like me.
if you are talking removing the ac/heater box to put in a heat only box find a standard heater remove the ac/heatercomponents from you truck patch the hole in the upper corner of the cab with some sheet metal two or three of the existing holes line up drill a couple new holes use heater controls out of a standard heater you can use the stock harnness just unplug the extra ac stuff plug the hole in the firewall it goes out this mod does make working in the engine compart ment i think the last one i did took about 4-5 hours total good luck
i removed my ac all in one piece without opening it up it worked on a non efi but i dont know for sure if it will work on yours if you can get the evaporater cover off and the evaporater out it will work then all you have to do is unbolt compressor unbolt radiator and pull out the condenser and you will not mess up the envirment
