this is about my mustang really but im sure its the same as a 302 truck. the power steering pump bolt that supposed to tighten it down to the braket was stripped out so i drilled it and put a nut and bolt in it. now i cant keep my pump belt tight for over about a week. its gets loose and starts squealing. anybody ever had this problem and got any suggestions on how to stop it??
Without actually seeing what your talking about, I'd suggest drilling again and using a bigger bolt. And make sure all bracketry is installed, meaning the little tube with the flat ends that is sometimes installed for extra support.
Well.......?
I know exactly what you're talking about. I had the same problem. You didn't mention this and I'm not trying to insult your intelligence, so here goes.... I removed the nut and put a lock washer on, then put the nut back on. It hasn't loosened up yet. I haven't driven it in 6 months due to major electrical and carb. problems. If that doesn't work, maybe try a locking nut on it.
Couldn't figure out how to post the picture in the thread, but I was able to figure out the gallery. I put a pic of the belt adjustment in. Yes it's the only pic I have in there right now. I'm still learning all this cpu stuff!
