I am wanting to put a four barrel carb on my 390 and saw an adapter that will let you put a four barrel on a 2 barrel intake. I am just testing ways to get better gas mileage and have heard that sometimes it is helpfull to go to a four barrel. Will this adapter destroy all hope of better gas mileage since it is still shoving the air/fuel mixture through the same size opening? Is this just a bad idea to even consider?
Thanks for any info
brad
i dont know how a 4 barrell will give you better gas milleage when your pushing more gas through the intake, and i havnt heard to many good things about the 4 barrell adapters they dont help much because your still trying to shove more gas/air through the stock 2 barrell intake, if your looking for better gas milleage theres not much that will help the 390, if you want more power find a 4 barrell intake and a carb.
I don't expect to get great gas mileage, just something better than the 6 mpg I am getting. I think I will go to a junkyard tommorrow to see what I can find.
thanks for the advice
