what up everyone... I want to weld up my rear axle before I go down to moab again, if anyone has had any good or bad expeariances, or any suggestions/tips let me know please, thanks.
How big are your tires? I'm not certain how big a welded 7.5 will handle, but it seems I've heard of someone running that with up to ~32 or 33 inch tires with marginal success. I would say, if you're running 33 inch tires on a locked/welded 7.5, be prepared to break something someday.
I'm running 31x12.5 tires, My friends that have build two rock-crawlers keep telling me to weld my rear axle before i go with them to moab in april. thanks for your reply.
The guys are right about the weld holding up... I've welded my front spiders twice now, last time I welded the valley's as recomended on here, still broke the carrier and this was on my full size bronco with the 35" tires. The stock carriers really don't hold up too well welded. I shot the spider gears and the pin through the diff. cover last time, I keep the mangled gears on top of my monitor here at work as a reminder of what not to do. Look for a spool to fit that rearend. It's a little more money, but it should hold up better. Moser makes one for the 7.5 rearend, part #542023 Auburn Hi-Performance Posi Unit - 7.5" Ford

Maybe you should look for a doner diff and weld it first, put it in or even swap the whole rearend before you go, that way if it does blow atleast you can put your original back in and still get around.
Here are some pics of a couple of different approaches to doing it...
