In my infinite wisdom(stupidity), I thought a 360 out of my parts truck would match up to my C4 in my current '65. However, apparently I'm wrong. I can't seem to get them stabbed. So now I'm going back to my original thought of getting my broken C6 rebuilt but the only quote I've had so far was for $800. Does that seem reasonable?
Also, I ordered carpet for my '65 F100 and they asked me if I had a large hump or small hump. I assumed small since I had a C4 hooked up to my original 352. However, now I am wondering if I put a C6 in with my 360, will it fit under the "small" hump?
i thought any FE would bolt to another FE's tranny, it should work are you sure your getting it put up to it right, i would check some things theres no reasont he 360 shouldnt bolt up to it.
first off, you do not have a C4 (they are only used behind 6 cylinder and small blocks, never big blocks), you have a cruisomatic. you probably can not get it stabbed because it is virtually impossible to stab an automatic. you need to install the torque convertor in the trans and then put the engine on. while you are attaching the engine to trans you need to make sure the the torque convertor mounting studs are lined up with the holes in the flexplate as you probably will not be able to turn it after the engine and trans are fully are mated. hope this helps, hawkrod
Make shure the converter pilot & the crankshaft are the same sizes. Also as said before check flywheel to conerter bolt placement's use cardboard to trace trans cut out inside of this. then check it out.
Brian, If you pulled a FE out, the 360 FE will bolt back up. The FE has the unique round top bell. Autos from that era were a FMX version Cruse-O-Matic. If you have a C4 in there it was stuck in behind a small block style engine.
If your truck came factory auto the small hump carpet will work. Check to see if there are price differences in carpet between 65 and 79 year models, because the floor in the trucks are the same for that time frame.

the trans is not an FMX as they did not come out until 1968. the trans used before that was an FX. they look similar but not identical and share some parts but the FMX is actually a much better trans. hawkrod
Brian-
Had sort-of the same problem installing a 75 302 with a 75 C-6 trans; my floor board had to be cut to accomadate due to placement of my eng/ trans position, if you place your motor mounts in same location as your 352 be careful of space allocation for fan & raditor. My truck was originially a 352, I purchase it with a 300 six cid with a C-4, I took motor mounts from a 302 engine & trans from a 66 F100 SWB and installed in my 65 SWB F100.
I have read that if it was a floor mounted shift 2wd or a 4WD truck it has a 8" hump; but column shift auto & 3 Speed on column where 5" hump, that's why they ask about your trans hump.

Thanks Mitch. That is what I was a little bit of afraid of, whether or not I have any problems with space (between the motor/fan/radiator and between trans/floor of cab).
Now I'm even further confused. With a 360/C6 will I experience those problems. I was going the route of 360/cruisomatic but I've begun to change my mind now.
