I have a '72 F100 2WD with a 360 and column shift. It has a C6 transmission. Now it is time to replace the floor mat with a new one. My question is..is it a low or high hump? The floor pan tunnel has a raised type metal cover screwed on to it which is about 2 inches high or so. I assume that must be some kind of access cover to get to the transmission. I measured the height from the floor pan to the tunnel top, about 5" and then that cover thing brings it up to almost 8" high. All these shops keep saying that any column shift automatic takes a low hump floor mat. But I remember seeing somewhere that the C6 needs the high mat. Anyone have any ideas? I don't want to order one until I know exactly which one I need.
They generally used the high tunnel to clear the four speed trans and in the four wheel drives. You obviously have the high tunnel if there's a cover screwed to the floor pan, so that means ordering the taller carpet.
