Rear Air Suspension doesn't work / 2000 Model
Re. Rear Air Suspension doesn't work / 2000 Model
I'm a new forum user trying to figure out an alternative to going to Ford to fix... like to do myself.
I had just washed the car in freezing weather, and walla, no more air in rear the next day.
I don't even hear the air compressor motor turning on... so assume this might be the problem, but since I don't know where the motor is, I'm lost to check it out myself.
Any ideas as to problem, and or where to find compressor motor?
BTW - On/Off switch is on, and all fuses look good.
The Ch Suspension light came on once, but not again.
Thx in advance for your help.

Will be glad to help if you have additional questions but most is already here somewhere if you search for it.

I tried to find the wire coupler as shown in the link (3 pics tgether)... no success as yet... it was a 97 model, so will have to keep looking, maybe located somewhere different.
ugh... wires everywhere.
Thx again...
Thx Sturge... yep, my search is not over. I found this site below...now I just need to find the relay switch and check the wiring there!

I also had a relay fail when my compressor crapped out...It's $100 at every Ford Dealer I checked. Located forward of the right front wheel well. About the size of a deck of cards with cooling fins on it. Mine was ty-wrapped to the framework behind the bumper. Had to get at it from underneath...couldn't see it looking down through the engine compartment. Harness pulls right out with a four-wire connector.
Thx for the directions on the relay switch.
Found it, and it was a loose connection on one of the wires.
Little bit of sanding down the connectors, and we should be good for another 100k --
Compressor is back up and running... and without a ford service bill!

We are ready for the 4~8" of snow dropping down on us in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Thx, n Take care,

good luck, glad to hear it was only a bad connection!
