Light came on a few weeks ago...checked the gas cap and pulled the neg batt cable to see if it would "reboot" itself....wrong! Have not gotten my hands on a diagnostics unit yet but here's the symptoms I have noticed:
Cold engine - everything is normal, starts fine, idles smooth
Warm engine - on highway everything is normal, runs smooth
EXCEPT...when I pull up to a light with the brake on and tranny in "drive" the idle begins to wander. Cycles from normal idle down to about 500rpm about once every second. If I leave it in drive it will stall. Starts right up every time and when I pull away from light it's fine until the next light.
In the meantime, I have been putting the tranny in "neutral" when pulled up to a light to take load of the engine and it keeps it from stalling.
Go to this post and I think you will find the problem is the same as yours. It's also an easy fix.

Thanks but what post are you saying I should go to??
That is the name of the post you can just do a search for rough idle and it will be the first or second one that comes up. I had the same problem with my 98 expy and had it fixed in 10 minutes. It's a broken vacuum line and the part number is in the post.
Good Luck
