8-bolt wheels
I thought for sure that I mentioned at least twice that I was looking at a 3" drop. Is that slamming the Truck? somehow I don't think so. Yes I would like to have some 18's...didn't even once mention anything bigger, much less 20 somethings.
And just to set things straight, I'm 32 and restored quite a few cars. Granted no trucks yet but I gotta start somewhere.
You're right on one thing though, If I was 17 and wanted to be the next fast and furious wannabe then I would be planting my *** in a civic and think it's fast cause it's slammed and loud. But I'm not. I'm not looking to "race" the truck. Just something nice to cruise in and if I feel like it, take my 400lbs Bike to the track. Pretty sure a 3/4 truck can handle that amount of weight even with a 3" drop.
I know it's a 250 and this whole thing would be a lot easier with a 100 series..but this thing is great shape and has everything it came with. Not to mention the price is right.
I don't mean to fall out of line on the board since I'm new and all but when I get the 3rd degree over something that I didn't even bring up...I am gonna set things straight. Would I have gotten better feedback if I would have asked for help on a 6" lift and Swampers, and where I can get the best deal on a gunrack for the backwindow?
That's my .02
Sorry we ruffled your feathers. I was agreeing with another persons viewpoint. I guess I wasn't really thinking about what you had said when I did it. I think a 3 inch drop on an F-250 would actually look great. I am kind of oldschool on rubber though. Just my preference but I don't much care for the big rims on older iron. I realize that there are much taller rims than 18s and I could live with 18s if the tire had some sidewall to it, like 60s or 65s. I always wanted a set of the very rare 8 x 19.5 wheels on a 4x4. I have only ever sen a couple sets of those.
And for the record, I think a subtly lowered 2wd is a nice street ride and a jacked up 4x4 with howling 36s is kind of a silly thing to drive around town in.
It will be more of a challenge with an F250, but you may be able to keep some of it's truck ability if done right.
As far as the taller wheels. I like the look. And there are some tires available for SUVs that can still handle a load (2500-3000lbs apiece). That's more than enough.
One of the guys used to come around FTE had an air-bag setup, that really dropped, but he said it rode like a Caddy at full height.
Check the gallery, his username was like bagged70 or something.
