my truck will not even turnover 1975 f250 390 motor. when i turn the key it makes like thumping noises that are really slow as if the battery were dead but its not. and there are sparks flying from the nagative termanal. (sparks are from where you can see wire before the conector that sits on the termanal. I have no idea what the problem is i took both temanals off and cleaned the battery acid off and the same thumping sounds are back NEED HELP!!!!! only rig. thanks
if sparks fly then your terminal is corroded and loose or both. tighten the 2 bolts on the connector.if that connector is not that type buy some new ones that will bolt up tight
Had something like that happen to me a while back on a 92 ranger. Thought the starter was bad and the auto parts store checked it and they concured. New starter ($180) and would still would not turn over. Back to the parts store , replaced the new starter with another new one and still no go. I spent 2 days scratching my head and saying nasty things. all the connections were good and the battery was fully charged. Everything else worked just fine. More bad words............. Turned out the cable from the battery to the starter had a break in the covering and was all corrroded down under the motor that you couldn't see from either side. Found it just by luck. Changed the cable and end of problem.
Yeah, I am with everyone else, has to be the cable, I had the same problem, I also have the problem every once in a while, in the mornings when there is dew out, my battery shot blue sparks and melted a line in the plastic from terminal to terminal, the condensation made a connection between the 2, also had a battery die overnight that way.
