all the steering boxes manual or power from 73-79 will interchange as a direct bolt on. Just remember to get a 4x4 one if you have a 4x4 or a F250 one... etc.
When i changed from a manual to power steering i had to re drill the frame because the manual box i had the pitman arm going to the rear and the power box went out the front, had to move the box back I believe 3 or 4 inches
I HAVE A 1973 F-100 4X4 AND HAVE CHANGED THE FRONT END TO GAIN DISC BRAKES, I ALSO CHANGE THE STEERING GEAR BOX.THE NEW BOX ONLY HAS THREE BOLT HOLES THE FRAME HAD FOUR.
I PROCEEDED ANY WAY ONLY USING THE THREE, SINCE EVERY THING HAS WORKED WELL UNTIL RECENTLY. THE BOX WORKED LOOSE AND WHILE TIGHTENG IT BACK ONE BOLT PULLED RIGHT THROUGH THE FRAME. LOOKING FOR A MORE ADAPTABLE APROACH THAN FABRICATING.
