roof racks and such

Somewere in here we talked about a roof rack for a CC. I can't find it. Could some one point me in the right direction.
Also I was thinking a bike rack for the roof would be neat(although a step ladder would be needed to access it).

Any help mucho appreciated.

I am in the same boat. I have been looking at a basket type setup with the Yakima Load Warrior along with the base of Q Towers and Crossbars. The neat thing is that the basket has add ons for Off road light and a spare tire clamp/holder. It will come in more than handy when we can start camping again out here.(read Fire Danger) So depending on what you are looking for there is also the Thule Playpen for a basket type setup. Hope this helps.

Its a start. I'll check out thule's web site. Or do you know of a better site?

Thanx.

I race bicycles and am on a team of about 6 other guys. OK now no spandex jokes.

I have a Thule (pronounced tool'-ee) rack for the Expy. Easily holds 5 bikes. Heck at one time we had 8 bikes on it. Anyway Thule makes a great rack and I know from teammates that Yakima makes a great rack too. You can't go wrong with either of these racks. Just head to your local bike shop or an outdoors store and be prepared to open your wallet. They are not cheap. The flip side is this: just like your truck that is not cheap, it can do anything (within reason) that you ask it to do. And it does it well. Kinda like, "you get what you pay for."

Good luck

I saw a cartoon a while back a wife asked her husband how the spandex made him ride faster? He said how would you like to have someone catch you while wearing this.

Sounds good. Did your Expy have a roof rack already? I checked out thule's web sight and it appears that you have to buy a roof rack and then the bike rack as well. There doesn't appear to be a dedicated Bike rack as such.

Gor,
We have the factory roof rack on the Expy, but with the right towers, my rack bolted right to the 'track' of the factory rack. In other works, we don't have any clamps securing the rack to a rain gutter or a clamp that hold the rack by pulling up on the door frame. The factory rack has this track that the factory cross bars can slide fore and aft as needed. My towers bolt my whole rack to that track.

Maybe a better way to say it is that I can mount my load bars to the factory rack. Then I can put what ever the heck I want to on the load bars: bike rack, 'Rocket box', basket, kayak rack, kids. Just kidding.

I wouldn't put my kayak on top of my truck.

Thanks for the info. I wonder if anyone makes a pod with a window so that the kids can see were your going (could be a good investment, some day's)

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 20-Aug-02 AT 08:22 AM (EST)]I was thinking more along the lines of one for the wife...maybe she'll think twice before she yells out "SLOW DOWN YOU'RE GOING TOO FAST!"
