I bought a 93 bronco a couple of years ago, I have ever been able to get it running quite right. Timing wise.
Motor wise, i kow it was prodused with a 302. But i found a recipt for a 351 big block in the dash. Recently, we took apart the intake to change the gasket. (Intake manifold still reads 5.0l.) and found that the intake was in dire need of cleaing. Yet the block looked clean as can be. I.m wondering if the reason i cat time it quite right is because maybe it still has the harmonic balancer from the 302, and not for 351?
Plenty of ways to tell, but they involve having access to a known 302. Intake manifold ona 351 is wider than a 302, for one, and the distance from the ledge behind the water pump to the bottom of the intake is greater on a 351 than 302 (obvious difference)
302 and 351 Windsor are both considered small blocks, and since you did not mention if having a carb, I sincerely doubt that you have a 351 Cleveland or 351M.
1982 and up ford changed the balance on the 302 from 28 to 50. So if someone installed the balancer from a 351W on a 302 you would feel a vibration from the motor.
