I've got a 91 Explorer Sport. It is at 90K and running rough. I have received a few estimates, but all are too expensive for me at this time since I am recently unemployed.
Does anyone have an idea of the most basic service needs at 90,000?
I want to keep the engine in good running order, but things such as "tire rotation" I'm sure can wait a few months.
Anywhere I c list of 90,000 serive needs and anyone have any suggestions as to the basic service needs I can request to be done so I can reduce the cost while still maintaining the good running order of the truck>
plugs, wires, filter,PCV, and a oil change would be a good start and work from there. Would look at getting the tranny fluid and filter change soon. cost around 100. or less. tranny rebiuld around $1400.00 you don't want a rebiuld.
Well, I can pass on the oil change since I do the JiffyLube appointment every 3K and just had it done 2 weeks ago. Maybe I can do the tranny fluid and filter change instead.
What did you mean by "tranny rebiuld around $1400.00 you don't want a rebiuld."?
A buddy of mine had the tranny crap out becouse he did not service the trans. It's to be done ever 30,000 mile */-. Just did mine and my miles per gallens whet up. the trans. run around 1400.00 to rebuild a cost you don't wont when looking for work.
No problem bud. Seafoam cleans whatever it touches in the engine. It cleans different areas depending on where you pour in. I got mine at Car Quest. I'm sure they're available at Napa too but double check.
I think you're better off by sucking it through the PCV valve than the brake booster line because you may not know what will happen if you didn't clamp the hose tight enough once you're done. Run it a few times and your engine will be like brand new, I promise. Good luck!!
