I'd pick the Coast Guard because I'm terribly allergic to lead and it seems like they get shot at the least. Of course, I get sea sick even on lakes, but that's what Dramamine is for....
P.S.--what's up with 1970f2504x4's equating poor eyesight with qualifying for the Marines? They've got to shoot things, too, you know, and at least in the Air Force the ordinance does most of the aiming for you!
Ya know, I guess yall all forget that we also need chefs and phone operators and all right? You dont need good eyesight for that. sok, the Air Force gets shot at the least. You gotta remember pilots are only about 2-3% of the Air Force, and on occasion Cops and Spec Ops may get shot at.....
Combat Controllers dont get shot at that often, they normally neutralize the target before they realize they are there.
True, you have a point... perhaps the Navy would be a better choice? I thought that with the airforce you need perfect eyesight.. my father never made it past the physical for that. Are the eye tests/requirements the same across all the Armed Forces branches?
Perfect eyesight? Not even piltos need perfect eyesight anymore, you only need to have eyesight that can be correctable by lasic to ecome a pilot, otehr than that I know people who are alomst blind and are in, like the guy sitting next to me

As an aside, the story I've been told is that some ancestor of mine (a great-grandfather, I think--maybe a great-great-grandfather) was employed in a copper mine before The Great War (that's WW-I to you young 'uns). Well, once the Kaiser started getting too big for his britches, gramps decided to do his part for the cause of freedom and trade in his pick-axe for a rifle. He enlisted in the army, passed the physicals, went through boot camp, was issued a full kit and was then promptly assigned... to work in the copper mine.
I don't like to fly,and i dont like large bodys of water.i'm fine in a canoe but i'd never take it into the ocean. The Marines are some real tough soldiers, they really impress me.I also think the Marines have more extensive training.I think i would prefer that.they are all vital to our security and each play a vital role.i dont think one is better than the other,it just my personal prefrence nothing more.
No, the physical requirements aren't the same across all branches. Though if the service you want to join has a more lax requirment but the doc at the MEPS station (where you do your paperwork and physical) is from a different service than you want to join, he may still hold you to that service's requirments.
My brother tried to get into the Navy, and they told him that if he got some surgical procedure done he'd be able to join. When he went back, the Doc was from the Army this time and told him it was a no-go because the Army doesn't allow that procedure.
Most of this was just the doc himself being stubborn.
With that said, I'm still Army all the way!

I voted Marines, though I know I probably would never be good Marine material. So I would most likely join the Navy and be a pilot there instead after being honest with myself.
