I've seen some other posts about airbag codes, but nobody else seems to have my problem. I have a 2000 F-150 4x4 the airbag code I get is 1 blink pause 9 blinks big pause... repeat, and then it stays on continuosly. Also, I'm not sure if the two are related, but my ABS system is not working. When I mash the brakes, the brakes lock up as long as I press them, not ABS pulsing. But, my ABS light is not on. I've checked my fuses and relays and everything seems to heck out. All the parts stores tell me to go to the dealer.... Help!
Has your truck been crashed?
A code 19 means that the crash data memory is full which was caused by a crash event that deployed the air bags. I think I would take it in to your dealer and get it scanned for trouble codes. Depending on if the trouble code is in memory or a fault that is happening when it is tested there are a couple different directions the tests lead. You can try disconnecting the battery for 10 or 15 minutes and see if the light will clear and then if the code comes back after that.
As for your brake problem, do they brakes lock up all the time? More so the first couple applications in the morning? Does your truck have 4 wheel ABS or just rear wheel?
I didn't think that the truck had been crashed, although I bought it used, so I can't be sure. It had 56,000 miles when I bought it, but when I checked the VIN I didn't see an accident. I'm not sure it it has 2 or 4 wheel ABS. But when I stop on slick pavement, my brakes always lock up, not sensation of ABS working. So should I try to disconnect the battery first and if the light still comes then take it to the dealer?
Yes I would try disconnecting the battery for a while first.
Has the airbag light been on since you bought the truck or just recently?
Have you checked brakes? I would pull the drums off the back and see what shape the shoes etc are in and if they are very dirty etc.
I took the neg battery cable off for 20 minutes and still get the 1blink 9 blink code.
The airbag light has been on for a couple thousand miles, but was not on when I bought it, I'm trying to think if I did anything to it just before the light came on, but not thinking of anything.
No I haven't check the breaks yet, I need a warm saturday!
