I just installed a completely rebuilt 360, in a ’71 F250. Swapped the 2 barrel to 4 barrel, (cast iron manifold from a ’75 and Edelbrock carb.) but the throttle linkage doesn’t seem to match up correctly.
First, are the linkages different between the 2 and 4 barrel?
Second, has anyone built linkage out of brass rod or threaded steel rod?
That is what I just finished with the help of this forum. I eliminated the linkage on the manifold and just put a 12" rod to the carb. straigh from the accel pedel. But I have a standard if you have a automatic that won't work because you eliminate the kick-down. Hope this helps.
I used the linkage that was on it. Cut it, threaded it, and put a small turnbuckle on. I noticed mine was hanging up this weekend so I need to just adjust it a little.
I am in need of this repair also, but I was thinking of a cable and pedal set up. I have fixed the pedal assembly 2 times now and would like to get rid of the bent rod through the firewall set up. I was thinkin of something easer. Does anyone have any ideas on a pedal and cable set up that might work?????
I did the threaded rod with a heim joint on each end and it works fine but its on a 460 Auto. That little contraption setup thats stock on the 360 is a mess of linkage!! Also for adjustable rods there are ones on other ford vehicles in the junker that i've found not sure what they were on though(been a while), i put one on my lil brothers 390 2wd and one on my dads 69 2wd also but they wouldn't reach on the 460 in my 70.
