Ok, this is SAD.
Here in the DC area we had a dusting of snow this morning, and it was aobut 25*
GRIDLOCK
I live nearly 4 miles outside of the Capitol Beltway (on the first gravel driveway outside the beltway) and traffic was backed clear past my driveway this morning, more the 5 miles. Just to get to the belway.
SICK.....
What do you people do when you get A FOOT of snow? Close shop till it thaws? Come to Beautiful Rochester, NY: we average about 12 feet of snow per season. Of course, winter here is from October till May...............
well, we certianly do much better when we get a 20" like last year. That way, the idiots cant even get out of their driveway, let alone get on the roads.

beautiful rochester? haha .. as of 11:30 this morning they still havent plowed any roads. on my way home from class there were 3 wrecks just within about 100 yds of my exit. i love the snow on the road, but not when all the other morons are driving, thinking that because they have an all wheel drive explorer they can drive anywhere (jus saw 2 of the smashed). o yeah and cant forget the wind and cold .. when i woke up this morning it was 1 degree with a windchill making it -16 degrees
WOW!! Somebody else from Rochester! Chuck, you're the only other person I've met here on FTE from this god-forsaken part of the country! Where ya been hidin'? Know what ya mean- driving home on 490 last night was no picnic. This city DOES own some plows, right?
Sometimes those light snowfalls make it really slick; just had that happen here a few days ago. Look at the bright side, everyone is going so slow it's pretty hard to get in any form of serious accident. BTW, on days like that it's good to call your employeer and tell them you will be in late and will stay late, assuming they allow this. Thus, you can avoid the mess.
Sounds like our first snowfall back in November. Only two inches fell. But it was REALLY slick out. It took me an hour to drive two blocks from my house because of the stand-still traffic, and I had another 20 miles to get to work. I ended up turning around and going back home. Got to work by noontime that day.
last sunday we got about 6 or 7 inches and i had to work at 8am. i told my boss id be there and sure enough i was. i left 2 minutes earlier than usual, i drove 55, on a untouched highway, all i could tell was where each ditch was, but since i was the only one on the road i just put my truck dead center and kept my pace and i made it to work right on time.
the trick is to slowly accelerate and dont over react when you start to slide. its all slow movements so you dont lose control. i can drive the speed limit in snow without a problem.
and another thing, when it comes to hills, get momentum going BEFORE the hill, so that way you dont have to floor it in the middle of the hill causing your tires to spin. i hate following people that dont understand momentum.
I'd rather have 2 feet of snow than 2 inches.
Most people don't go out if there is 2 feet on the ground, but they'll be causing accidents all over with just a dusting.
