I have an 88 F-150 and the paint is all pretty good except the hood. Has anyone else had problem with the paint on their hood peeling off. Also does anyone know what color of red ford used on pickups that year. I bough a spray can that looks close I'm not too woried about it matching it will have to look better than the gray primer and the few rust spots.
I was just out of tech school in 1991 and got a job working in the bodyshop at Karcz Ford. We had a lot of peeling hoods on Ford trucks. Look for your paint code should be inside left door. code 26 med red 4n & el wild strawberry eg electric red
My son has a mid '80's Ford ranger, it also suffers from peeling paint all over. My '97 Club Wagon has decided that it does not want paint on it eather! Snow is melting pretty good here and with the snow run-off, I am getting paint run-off from the top. Has there been a Ford recall on its paint jobs? What to do?
I would post the question in the forum for your year and see if anyone else and had any problems and what they did, and if they were sucessfull getting money for a repaint. There was a recall for the early fords I believe, but with it being past 4 years might have problems getting money out of them. Here is one link I found http://www.autosafety.org/article.php?scid=99&did=561
Contact Ford customer care with your problem and document it and talk to other owners. Also search for places to make complaints and see if that will help, maybe thier is a class action suit. I know when my friends f150 had an undersized radiator, ford sent him a letter saying there was a recall and he could either take money or have it replaced.
