If you want to enter Mammoth Cave, you'd better make reservations now. They are normally booked well in advance...
I know the following is heresy, but the corvette museum is in Bowling Green, just South of the cave area on I-65.

I made reservations about 6 weeks in advance when I went there. You need to do that to ensure you are on a good tour, there are several to choose from.
We stayed at the hotel there,it was good and inexpensive. Stay away from the breakfast buffet in the hotel restaurant though.
I would also suggest the boat tour on the green river, that was cool.
