I have several Mustangs:
66 K engine, candyapple red coupe, Bought 4-1-70, excellent condition;
65 Fastback, Shelby clone, 351-392 stroker, tremmec, vintage burgandy, my middle age crazy toy;
65 fastback, black, 289 4 spd, gave it to my son;
65 coupe, black, 289 3 spd, gave it to my other son;
67 GTA coupe, 390, bench seat, med blue, wifes car, soon to get 428;
69 Shelby GT 350, competition orange, Hertz rent a racer.
I am fortunate to have a wife who likes cars and trucks almost as much as I do. There are also several Fairlanes/Torinos and Ford Trucks. I am blessed.
Currently I have the two in my sig. a '71 Mach 1 429SCJ and an '82 GT 5.0. Over the last 9 years I have had 18 (in high school my "job" was restoring these cars. I could usually find them dirt cheap and in fairly good shape [just real lucky I guess] and turn them over real quick). The one I miss the most, was probably the Boss 351. Stock it was one of the most impressive cars I've ever driven.
1970 Mach One - I've had it since I was 15. It was the 1st car I ever bought. Its Grabber Green with front and rear spoilers and sport slats. Equiped with a 351 4V and 4 speed. I am the 2nd owner and it has approx 60,000 miles on it.
1990 Mustang LX Hatchback - Bought it brand new in 1990. 5.0, 5 speed, Titanium exterior and ALL black cloth interior. No mods expect for a set of Headman shorty headers, Flowmaster 2-chamber mufflers and chrom exhaust pipes opposed to the stock stainless steel. Here's the best part - its only got 19,000 km's on it (approx 11,000 miles).
1983 Mustang GT - Bought it 2 summers ago. 5.0, 4V and 5 speed (making it a late model '83 as early models were equipped with a 4 speed). Its got original paint (Burgandy) with the black side stripes, original TRX rims and crappy Michelin TRX tires. Also came factory equipped with the rear window louvers. Its got approx 66,000 miles on it but its sure fun to drive..
The 1990 is DEF the fastest, best handling and best on gas. The 1970 is the best looking and always gets lots of compliments. The 1983 is neither fast nor handles well, but it was a step in the right direction for Ford in the mid 80's.
In the past, I've also owned the following Mustangs:
1979 Cobra - 5.0, 2V, 4 speed - not alot of power, but it was a nice looking 1st generation Fox based Mustang. Stolen in 1987.
1968 coupe - 289, 4V, 4 speed. Navy blue on blue. Very few options other then the V8 and automatic. Was a nice car to drive on the weekends. Bought in 1987 and sold in 1990.
1966 coupe - 289, 2V, 4 speed. Red on red with air conditioning and the Rally Pack dash cluster. Bought in 1992 and sold in 1998.
1984 SVO - rare turbo-charged 4 banger that didn't live up to the hype. Silver on grey. Wasn't very reliable and was expensive to repair. Bought in 1988 and sold in 1989. 5.0 cars were approx the same price at the time, cheaper to insure, faster and more reliable.
I'm waiting to see what the next generation of Mustang is like. From what I've seen on-line and in print, looks like a throw back to the 1965-66 body style with a bit of the 1969-70 thrown in.
Well technically I do have a Mustang, but it is not mine. It is my mom's car, but the paperswork was signed in my name. It is a dark blue 95 GT with the 5.0 V8 and 5 speed.
13 second qtr mile runs bone stock with a bad driver (me). 13.85secs on my very first pass down the drag strip in any car. tires spinning through first and part of second.
I'm almost always a Ford guy, but this LS1 is a great motor.
I had a guy offer me 3k yesterday for my car......I almsot laughed, told him to find 5 and come back to me.....even then I may not sell....I have dreams all the time of what it WILL look like after I get it done....just a matter of time...
I've had my '89 GT since 91. First car I bought. Still have it and use it as a daily driver. Only minor mods but more drastic changes are in the future. Run great with only a water pump, mufflers, heater core, and a tranny rebuild ever done. Well, and a lot of electrical fixes.
