I have a F250,CC,V10,Lariat.

What is redline on the V10 engine. Seems to me it ought to be marked on the tac, but isn't?

I am told the computer shuts down the engine before it can hurt itself as well as limiting the top speed to somewhere around 95 mph.
I guess thats another reason to "chip" your engine.

Thanks for the info. I know the computer shuts things down at about 95, I was thinking more in terms of towing a load (up hill, for example) in either 3rd or 2nd. Seems that I would be more likely to over-rev the engine. On other hand, is the computer tied in to engine revs or the speedometer?

Red line is based on revs only. road speed has nothing to do with it. So from above......FLOOR IT!!!!!!! Besides these V-10's love to run!!!!

If you hit about 5,250rpm the computer won't let it rev any higher. If you don't reach that rpm then the computer will limit your speed to about 95mph.I wouldn't rev it to say 5000 rpm and hold it there for extended periods of time.It wouldn't bother me to run say 4200rpm while towing a load up a grade, although with my mods I towed 6500lbs. for 1000mi. and never had to run over 3000rpm.even towing up grades.

Redline is around 5600 rpms. Shift point is around 5200 rpms.

Put your tranny in 1st gear and you can actually hit the red-line... at least that's what I've heard.

I've yanked a 12,000 lb 5th wheel up some of the steepest grades in Alaska and have never had to go past 4000rpm to keep it moving @ 55mph.
