good firewall???

I've been unable to get online for the past week, got the Comcast tech to come out and the problem turned out to be my firewall(McAffee). Just wondering what type of firewall y'all are running.

I would recommend dumping the software firewall and using a hardware firewall ( a router).

I use a free one from Zonelabs.com. I haven't had any problems yet, but I do shut my computer off when I am not using it.

I use Tiny Personal Firewall and have had no complaints with it for the last 3 years I've been on high-speed internet. Its free for the home user, very easy to install and configure, and if its good enough for the US military its good enought for me.

Since using a router, I have had ZERO intrusions, and the zonelabs test showed total stealth of my system. As if it was completely nonexistent...

A double router system is possible for the absolutely paranoid.

I run Norton Firewall and a router because if they can get a program by you it can try to send stuff out. I have intecepted bank record attempts 8 times the past 3 months going OUT.

Router & Norton firewall. You still need to keep up with security issues on a regular basis.

I use both a router (Hardware firewall) and software firewall. I have never had a virus, ever, in 14 years of computer ownership.

Go to http://www.grc.com/ to test the effectiveness of your firewall. Very few people in the industry are as good as Mr. Gibson is as what he does. If anyone remembers the incredible program Spinrite, he's the author.
