I would like to know were a spare tire would go on a 1965 F-100 styleside would be put on when bought new & were the jack and tools were put when it was new? I know on a step side my dad had on new. In frt of drivers rear fender I believe . But I don't remember about the jack & handle. Don
i dont know about your 65 but my 75 had the jack on the drivers side fender under the hood strapped down from the factory and the handle was just under the seet as for the spare tire it went in the box they didnt have undermount spare tires yet.
The spare on a 65 styleside hangs under the frame behind the rear end. It didn't use the fancy "winch" setup that modern pickups have. You just kind of crawled under the pickup and loosened up the carrier. It hung on a threaded rod, with a nut welded to the end of a piece of strap iron (might have been a fancy cast assembly originally, but mine has a piece of 3/4" strap with a nut welded to the end.)
I think the kind of assumed that you were going to get dirty if you needed to change a flat!!
I don't know where the jack and lug wrench went. I'll ask Dad tomorrow, I think he'll still remember. I'd like to have a jack and lug wrench from a 65. Got a spare?
yo, cd is correct with the under frame carrage. I have see both bottle jack & folded handle under the hood on the fender apron, as well as under the seat.
