oil fix

i have a 99 f150 ext. cab 4x4 with the 5.4. i have 105k on the motor. the motor is very strong but it has developed a small oil leak from the head gasket. I do not want to spend the 1500 dollars to fix the leak i would rather wait until it goes out altogether and replace it. My question is does anyone know how to slow or stop this leak. will oil weight or stop oil product work. it drips a drop about the size of a penny over night.

Mine leaks also, I just let it leak.

Waiting the engine to blow then I am going to change it out.

Sorry I have no clue how U can stop the leak.

Not sure U can pull the head with the cab on !

yeah my cousin works at the ford place and he told me that just to check the oil and drive it he said it is cheaper to install a new engine then to fix the head gasket so im going to wait a couple of years and change it. how much does yours leak?

The head can be pulled with the cab on.....but it is the ultimate PIA!!!

There was a gentlemen that had done this on a 5.4L Expy in the 4.6L/5.4L forum on this site a while back....I'll see if I can dig it up.

You may want to try using some Valveoline Max life in your next oil change...there's been a few posters in the Oil and Lubrication forum that have had some success with stopping small leaks with this oil. IMO it would be worth a shot, but remeber that it will only a bandaid and not a permanet fix.

Good luck!

Heres the link to the post in the 4.6L/5.4L forum.....
